Ivy Anna Rizzo is a licensed bilingual English/Spanish clinical counselor and is proud to have been licensed in the state of New Mexico since 2008. She believes in providing culturally experienced and inclusive therapy services. She delivers informed faith based counseling in the Buddhist, Jewish, Christian, and Muslim traditions. Her work is LGBTQ empowering. She is a neurodiversity affirmative counselor and is specialized in working with the disability community.
A graduate of the The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Iva Anna completed her undergraduate degree in Rhetoric with a minor in Asian Cultural Studies. At this time she also studied Asian Cultural Studies at The University of New Orleans, The University of Massachusetts Amherst, and The University of Hanoi in Hanoi Vietnam.
Ivy Anna earned her Masters in counseling psychotherapy from Southwestern College in Santa Fe where she studied Trauma and Grief, Ecopsychology, Interpersonal Psychology and Neurobiology, Somatic Experiencing, Mindfullness Based Counseling, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy.
She also attended on scholarship the Masters program at Naropa University in Boulder where she studied Buddhist Psychology, Mindfulness Based Transpersonal Psychology, Sleep Therapy, and somatic approaches to trauma.
Ivy Anna has worked with a wide array of mental health needs, and has experience working dual diagnosis mental health and developmentally disabled population, as well as providing evidence based counseling to those dealing with chronic pain, caregiver burnout, new/chronic medical diagnosis and illness. Her time as the bilingual counselor at The Rape Crisis Center of Central New Mexico sharpened her ability to work deeply with trauma.
She also has expertise in Group Work, Dream Work, and Yoga Informed Counseling. She has her 200 hour yoga teacher training and incorporates mindfulness based stress and anxiety reduction (MBSR) into her work. Ivy Anna is also passionate about Behavioral Sleep Intervention and her clients assessment of their sleeping lives. She practices Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia CBT-I, in which she has completed certification, and she values the symbiotic relationship between sleep and mental health.
