Michelle J. Baca, LISW

Michelle J. Baca is an independently licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state New Mexico. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Women’s Studies/Chicano Studies from the University of New Mexico, and completed her Masters in Social Work from New Mexico Highlands University.


Her experience includes providing services in various settings such outpatient, in-home and corrections settings, for adolescents and adults. Michelle has worked as a full time Professor at the New Mexico Highlands University School of Social Work. Michelle has experience working with both individuals and couples who have struggled with anxiety, depression, trauma, self-harm, suicidality.

She provides clients with an emotionally supportive environment. Michelle utilizes cognitive behavioral techniques, motivational interviewing, person-centered therapy, psycho-education, and other therapeutic modalities. She also has extensive experience using a trauma-informed approach to achieve positive outcomes. She has worked with children, adults, and families, and couples in processing of trauma, improving coping skills, and supporting client with applying these skills in settings outside of treatment to decrease the level of physiological distress.
